What time does the race start?
The Half Marathon starts at 10:00 am and the 10K starts at 10:20 am.
What time should I arrive?
As early as you can, but you should aim to arrive by 9.00 am at the latest. There is a road closure order in place and this is enforced from 9.30 am.
How much does it cost to enter the Half Marathon?
If you enter before 9th September 2019 the fee is £26.00 affiliated and £28.50 unaffiliated. From Monday 10th September 2019 the fee will be £33.50. Entries on the day will be £40.00.
How much does it cost to enter the 10K?
If you enter before 9th September 2019 the fee is £17.50 affiliated and £20.00 unaffiliated. From Monday 10th September 2019 the fee will be £25.00. Entries on the day will be £30.00.
Push chairs, buggies, bikes, skateboards, animals etc
Entrants are not permitted to race with any of the above and anyone attempting to do so will be disqualified. Guide dogs are not permitted but we do offer a free place for guide runners.
Headphones are allowed as the races are on traffic free roads.
Are there any age restrictions?
You must be 17 years of age to enter the Half Marathon and 15 years of age to enter the 10K. Entrants under 18 must have parental permission.
Where do the races start and finish?
Barns Green Village Hall, Muntham Drive, Barns Green, Nr Horsham, West Sussex RH13 0PT.
How do I get to the venue?
Barns Green is 5 miles South-West of Horsham and 3 miles East of Billingshurst. The nearest train stations are Horsham, Christ’s Hospital or Billingshurst. There are no public buses on Race Day.
Is there parking available?
There is plenty of parking available close to the race start. The parking is free, although we do invite you to make a voluntary charitable contribution to this year’s charity, St Catherine’s Hospice.
Are there any road closures?
The race route has a rolling road closure order from West Sussex County Council. Please note that the closure begins to take affect at 9.30 am and is in effect until 1.30 pm. Entrants for the 10K will be directed to a specific car park which will enable them to leave as soon as logistically possible.
When will I receive my race number?
Race numbers, timing tags and race information will be sent out two weeks before the races. If you enter on or after 15th September 2019 you will need to collect your number from Race HQ either on Saturday 28th September between 10.00 am and 3.00 pm or on Sunday 29th September before the races.
I have not received my race number – what should I do?
Contact the Race Secretary.
Can I transfer my entry to another runner?
Yes, on completion of a transfer form and an additional payment.
Can I transfer my entry from the 10K to the Half?
Yes, on payment of the additional entry fee. Please note you will need a new number and timing tag. You cannot race with the old number and you will be disqualified if you try to run with an incorrect number. Contact the Race Secretary.
Can I transfer my entry from the Half to the 10K?
Yes, but no refund of the higher entry cost will be given. Please note you will need a new number and timing tag. You cannot race with the old number and you will be disqualified if you try to run with an incorrect number.
Is there anywhere that I can leave my kit during the race?
Yes. We provide secure kit storage in Race Headquarters/the Village Hall. Your race number will be written on the bag and you must bring your race number to collect your kit after the race.
Are there massages/physiotherapy available?
Yes – at £10.00 per session. Entrants are also entitled to a 10% discount on pre and post race physiotherapy – contact Alan Law - email@example.com.
Do I need to register when I arrive?
No – but please notify the Race Secretary of any changes (address, running club etc)
What happens if I cannot take part?
Event entries are non-refundable. If you cannot take part you may be able to transfer your number to another runner. You will need to fill out a transfer form and pay £5.00 to do this. Please do not run using someone else’s number.
What should I do with my timing tag if I cannot take part?
Please return the tag in the stamped addressed envelope provided. All our profits go to local causes and we are charged for non returned tags.
What happens if the race is cancelled?
We reserve the right to cancel the race if adverse weather should make conditions too dangerous or a serious incident occurs that prevents the races going ahead. In this event there will be no refunds.
The Barns Green Half Marathon and 10K are organised and administered by the Barns Green Half Marathon Committee.
Medical Treatment While Attending
By entering this event, you are confirming that should you require any medical treatments during your attendance at the event, whether before, during or after the actual run, they may be administered by the events’ official medically qualified personnel.
Use of Image
By taking part in the event you grant full and irrevocable permission to us, as organisers of the Barns Green Half Marathon and 10K, and any third parties authorised by us to use any photographs, videotapes, motion pictures, website images, recordings or any other record of this event that may include your image.
